Samantha's Bonfire

The Great "Water Lizard" Hunt of July 2010
We had Sam's bonfire last night. It was a good time, minus the 100-degree heat, Jake smashing his finger to pieces and having to go to the hospital, and my baby boy nearly drowning.

Don't get me wrong; it really was fun. We enjoyed a fire (from afar), roasted hot dogs, s'mores, and a zealous search for the "water lizard" (a.k.a. crawdad). I don't know who caught the most crawdads, but I guess it was fun fishing for them. (I wouldn't know.)

Thank you to Jake for having us and setting up a fine place for a bonfire. I'm sorry you got hurt and had to leave early. (You're like my husband--accident prone.) We are blessed with an amazing youth group, with amazing kids. Each one is special in his or her own way. I look forward to more activities and making more memories together.
